Contract templates aren't freelancer-friendly

I'm a freelance writer who's been shopping around for a freelance platform and I wanted to give you guys some feedback. I signed up for a free Indy membership to try it out, and was considering becoming a paying member.
However, when I was looking into the contract templates, I realized that the one Indy provides for writers actually heavily favors the client and isn't written in the freelancer's best interest at all, with things such as the indemnity clause fully putting the writer on the line. I'd recommend editing those contract templates to ensure that Indy's platform really does champion and support freelancers.

Absolutely. Also, I have been hesitant to use the contacts because I can't create a contact template. I'm a custom jeweler and there are so many different things that I need to take into account and to edit for each client. This has definitely been an Achilles Heel on my Indy journey.

Very insightful feedback. I haven't used the contracts yet because of how they don't allow custom contracts combined with the fill-in-the-blank style inputs. My need for custom contracts is to remove language about incurred expenses that is unfavorable to me. But I'f I'm making the contract custom each time in another word processor, it's cumbersome to come back to Indy. So I just send contracts via PDF.
